TAC AIR Cycle 9: “THREE WALLS” ↬ 20-23 September 2018
Textile Arts Center (“TAC”) × The Vanderbilt Republic proudly present “THREE WALLS” —
the final exhibition of the 9th annual Artist in Residence (“AIR”) cycle at TAC,
on view from 20-23 September at Gowanus Loft.
THREE WALLS explores the concepts of beauty, language, function, value, and protection.
The installation by Jamie Boyle, Rhonda Khalifeh, Junyu Li, Lily Moebes, Meghan O'Sullivan,
Cory Siegler, Hannah Whelan and Chang Yuchen — with curatorial consultancy, technical direction,
and lighting design by George Del Barrio — will be an immersive experience in fiber arts.
The collective body of work reflects the diversity of the artists’ creative backgrounds,
and also communicates a sense of unity, an empathic identification.
In concept, form, and process they are companions.
TAC director Isa Rodrigues said,
“That our studio spaces only have three walls is a part of our vision for the AIR program:
we want the artists’ practice to be accessible, and to foster interaction with the public.”
