Figaro × Figaro ↬ 1-3 × 8-10 December 2017

Bare Opera × The Vanderbilt Republic very proudly present Figaro × Figaro — a never-before-seen adaptation by director Cecilia Ligorio and resident conductor Sesto Quatrini.

Figaro × Figaro weaves Rossini’s The Barber of Seville into Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro as a series of flashbacks. Through the music of Rossini we glimpse the early lives of the characters from Beaumarchais’ famous trilogy,  which gives greater perspective on the matured characters in Mozart’s story. 

With all memorable moments intact, this “marriage” of the most famous Italian operas clocks in at a speedy two hours. In close collaboration with our design partners at M A D E R A, a panorama of stages will be carefully activated, firmly placing opera’s rising stars in command of this breakthrough comedic dyad.

This exciting production promises to elevate contemporary DIY opera to an entirely new level.
